I think most people who own a website or blog that revolves around the home business, internet marketing etc niche are always looking for new ways to add new income streams to their businesses.  As you have probably seen on this blog, I have a few banners from companies I am promoting, most of which I am using myself and I am also using adsense which I think most people who want to monetise (is their such a word?) their websites / blogs use.  The thing with adsense is that it rarely pays more than a few pence per click and you would probably have to have quite a large volume of visitors clicking through your website / blog to make any significant money.  Well this week a new program has been launched called ‘Click Bank Ad Rotator’.  This program allows you to place text adverts on your site, much the same as adsense to point to products on the Click Bank marketplace that you have specified through your own keywords.  Now, straight away I can see two benefits from this.  With adsense I regularly have adverts on my blog that are in direct competition with me and therefore could actually be taking business away from me so I could use keywords for products that I think my readers might be interested in but would also, hopefully, complement my business.   Also the amount of revenue that could be made from this far outweighs the pennies that adsense pays out per click. As from the 25^th of September Ebay have announced that they will be changing the pricing structure for the Buy It Now listings and shop subscription.  The subscription for the basic shop will now be more than double the price at £14.99.  This is quite a significant hike in cost and I’m sure many people will be taking a step back and considering whether it is worth the price.

It seems to me that Ebay are trying to encourage more people to use shops to sell their products and also to discourage lower priced objects being sold.  This is probably an extension of their determination to stop the feedback manipulation that occurred with the very cheap digital products that Ebay banned earlier on this year.

The new price plan is a little more expensive than the old price plan for cheaper products on a buy it now listing but as the price rises the fees start to level out and get cheaper than the old price plan.

I’m sure some people will look at these price changes and feel they are getting out of hand and then others will look at them and will realise they are going to benefit them.  For the digital media business I think that the prices will start to rise a little but I also think that the overall quality will start to rise also to justify the cost, which in the end has to be a good thing.

I’m sure most if not all of you have heard about ebay constantly changing the rules on the sale of digital products and how it has upset many digital product sellers.

If you haven’t already heard, here is a brief update.  Basically, Ebay have stopped the selling of digital products that are on instant download from their auctions.  Now this was a huge business for many people and was a big set back.  However, the good sellers have worked around this and have now started selling dvd’s with the information on instead, which, if you read a lot of the marketers blogs, is working very well for them and they’ve even found they can start charging more for the same product as a dvd is perceived as a more valuable product.

There is one way of selling digital products on Ebay and that is through classified ad’s, however the problem with that is that you don’t get feedback scores from the classified ad sales which can be important for future sales.  Also, Ebay is starting to impose new rules on these classified ad’s and it seems that from September 1^st, email addresses will not be allowed to be placed on these classified ad’s.  Now this was a major way of gaining sales for the marketers who had gone down that path so this also causing problems
